Hi, I’m Diona.
Over my career, I’ve taken the scenic route through creative industries.
I graduated summa cum laude from AFDA with a BA in Film, then completed my BA Honours in Digital Art at Wits. My career started out in production (animation, television, promo production) before gravitating toward the part of the work that interested me most. The work behind the idea.
I moved into copywriting, where I worked at large global agencies, small local agencies, and corporates, where I helped brands translate strategy into creative. Over time, my curiosity pulled me further upstream.
Today, much of my work focuses on helping brands define their positioning, shape their narrative, and build messaging frameworks that translate into consistent communication. I’ve positioned and repositioned brands, conceptualised ideas, won pitches, and brought consistency to chaotic content ecosystems. I’ve also written manifestos, headlines, scripts, websites, articles, radio ads, and that line you liked but cut anyway.
Along the way, I’ve worked across regulated industries including insurance, fintech, medtech, education, and telecommunications, alongside global FMCG brands. The common thread has always been getting to the heart of the idea and building the structure around it so creative work lands.
